ALBUM REVIEW: ‘Wild’ by Troye Sivan

YouTubers are slowly taking over the world, rising to the same status as movie stars. People, usually younger teenagers, go crazy over the people they watch and adore on the Internet, and Troye Sivan is no exception.

Troye Sivan is a singer, songwriter, actor and YouTuber. His acting credits include X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Spud. He is popular on YouTube, with over 3.5 million subscribers and  almost 200 million views. He has also released two EP’s, TRXYE (released 2014) and his newest, Wild, which was released this past Friday.

I have listened to TRXYE and I did enjoy my time with it. It has some pretty cool production, with lyrics that weren’t at all bad. The album reached 8th on the Billboard Top 200.

In this album, it is evident that Sivan has matured and improved his lyrical talent. The lyrics are something that this EP is good for. You don’t really expect the greatest lyrics from this type of music, but this is an exception.

His voice throughout the verses sounds a bit like Zayn Malik in “I Don’t Mind”, a bit raspy. In the choruses, his voice shines a bit more.

The production on this EP is really good. There wasn’t a song that disappointed me in the production.

Overall, this album is great lyrically and vocally, with some neat little production on the side. It’s really enjoyable and worth picking up.

Give The Flak Rating: 8/10, Positive
